Alex Gibson (b. 1994, Barbados) is a Barbadian Canadian artist. Their interdisciplinary practice explores how built environments shape perception and our experiences of physical space, destabilizing boundaries between image, object, and architecture. They consider the potential of photographic representation beyond the document, instead approaching images as sites of instability and contradiction, where the viewer’s body engages with the history of a site to become a part of it.

Gibson has presented work in Barbados, Canada, Italy, Poland, and the United States of America. Their work has appeared in Public Parking and has been acquired by the Rennie Collection. Recent projects have received support from the Canada Council for the Arts, and they have completed residencies at Fondazione Antonio Ratti and Access Gallery. Their writing has been published in Canada, Germany, and Italy. Gibson received an MFA from the University of British Columbia in 2024 and is based between Barbados and Vancouver, BC.
